Easily Accessible Recreational Facilities Help Keep Your Group Moving and Entertained
Our expansive property gives guests plenty of reason to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Being nestled in the foothills of the Poconos, nature is evident and easily accessible as well as our other recreational facilities. Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center’s 37 acres of property can be enjoyed all year long. In addition to our already high standard of cleanliness, we have put into place additional practices to keep you safe during your time with us. Our staff will be wearing masks and gloves as they regularly disinfect high touch areas throughout our campus.
INDOOR RECREATION
The Olsen Activities Center is our gymnasium that includes a basketball and volleyball court, ping-pong, air hockey, a pool table, foosball and carptball. The volleyball net can be removed to provide your group with space for dodgeball or other indoor activities. This provides indoor entertainment for retreats held during the winter months or on those “too-hot” summer days. If you are looking to keep up your exercise routine during your visit with us, you can find our fitness room located in the basement of the Riverside Manor. The fitness room is equipped with a universal weight machine, two bikes, a treadmill, elliptical machine, and TV.
OUTDOOR RECREATION
There are six outdoor basketball hoops and three full size tennis courts located right outside the gym as well as a brand new GaGa Court. Our sand volleyball court located near the pools, provides hours of entertainment. Yard games such as bocce, shuffleboard, horseshoes, Kan Jam, and corn hole are always a big hit from spring to fall! Stop in the office to rent equipment for any of these activities. Our large multi-purpose field equipped with full size soccer goals, is the perfect setting for group games including soccer, football, and Frisbee. If you have a group of softball players or want to organize a kickball game, we have a softball field available on grounds as well. Looking for something for the kids? The fenced in playground is a great location for those under eight years old.
RIVER AND POOLS
During the summer, Tuscarora’s busiest season, guests have many choices of water activities to cool you down. Our direct access to the Delaware River brings fun options to play during your stay! Sign up for tubing on the river behind our speed boat, or enjoy a leisurely, three mile canoe trip guided by safety trained lifeguards. Another option for recreation is our outdoor swimming pools! Three pools side by side are great fun and exercise for families, adults, and youth. A diving pool, a 75 foot, five lane swimming pool, and a small wading pool for your toddler are available from Memorial Day to the weekend after Labor Day and open most afternoons (evenings upon request). Certified lifeguards will be there to make sure your child is safe. The lifeguards have posts at the diving pool and the swimming pool. The pool is also a great place to hold a baptism should your group like to do so. Please give us advanced notice if you plan on holding a baptism service during your stay.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Our location puts you right up close to the beautiful Pocono Mountains. There are several hiking trails within a ten minute drive of our campus. These short trips make for great break time activities for any age group. Just call or stop into our office and we can give you directions to a hiking trail. The Appalachian Trail is not far from our campus and has an easy access path for those that wish to venture there.
Tuscarora is very centrally located to several malls and shopping centers. Our receptionist can also give ideas on site seeing options and local shopping. With New Jersey, just across the river, and New York City, only a one and a half hours away, there are great possibilities for day trips during your stay with us.
