Volunteer Background Checks

BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERS
All Tuscarora VOLUNTEERS who have direct contact with children are REQUIRED BY LAW to have 3 clearances
completed after acceptance. All clearances are good for 60 months (5 years).

DO YOU HAVE CURRENT BACKGROUND CLEARANCES?
Tuscarora will accept copies of Employment or Volunteer Clearances acquired within the past 24 months of start date if the volunteer submits:   (1) Copies of all required clearances, and  (2) Signs the Non- Disqualification Statement.
Returning Volunteers can contact Tuscarora if they are unsure if they have completed clearances from the previous year.

1. PA STATE POLICE CRIMINAL CHECK

•    LOG-ON: https://epatch.pa.gov/home
•    Click: NEW RECORD CHECK (for volunteers only) 
•    Once you receive your clearance, you must provide Tuscarora with a copy. Email to alicia@tuscarora.org

* Note: please print out the form that has a watermark of the PA shield.  The first form that appears will say “No Record Found,” but a hyperlink on the page leads to the actual certificate.

Attention!

Before beginning the next two clearances, please email alicia@tuscarora.org with a copy of your first clearance and for payment codes! Please include your full name, what position you are volunteering for at Tuscarora and the PA State Police Criminal Check. 

2. PA CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CLEARANCE (Payment Code Required)

  • LOG-ON: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home

  • Click: CREATE INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT, or INDIVIDUAL LOGIN (if you already have an account)

  • Follow the instructions to create an Individual Account, and submit a request for a PA Child Abuse History Clearance. You are applying for “Volunteer"

  • The application will ask if the organization provided a code for payment. Use the payment code provided to you (see "Attention" step above)

  • Once you receive your clearance, you must provide Tuscarora with a copy. Email to alicia@tuscarora.org

3. FBI BACKGROUND CHECK – FINGERPRINTING (Payment Code Required)

NOTE:

PA residents: If you have lived in PA for the previous 10 year period, the FBI Fingerprinting is not required, as long as the Non-Disqualification Statement is signed by the volunteer.  

Non PA residents: 

Option 1: If you can come to PA to get fingerprinted, this is the best and easiest option for you.

Option 2: If you cannot get to PA to be fingerprinted, you must complete physical fingerprint cards. Please follow the instructions in the next section below for “Physical Fingerprint Option.”

Fingerprinting in PA

  1. Go to: https://uenroll.identogo.com/

  2. Enter the Service Code: 1KG756

  3. Select "Schedule or Manage and Appointment" and complete the online form.

    • Employer information: Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center, 3300 River Road, Mount Bethel, PA 18343

    • Use the payment code given to you by Tuscarora.

      • If you choose not to request a payment code or fail to enter the payment code, you will need to pay for this service by your own credit card.

  4. Print your receipt from this transaction that includes your Universal Enrollment ID (UEID). You will need this receipt both for your fingerprint appointment and your final processing; do not lose it.

  5. Find a local FINGERPRINTING LOCATION

  6. Take your receipt and a valid photo ID with you to your appointment. Verify your options for ID here.

  7. Once you have been fingerprinted, you will receive an email confirmation. Please submit a copy of your receipt to Tuscarora as soon as possible. Volunteers will not receive re-imbursement until the clearance is received.

Non-PA Residents: Physical Fingerprint Option

If you cannot get to a IdentoGO Fingerprinting Location in PA -

  1. Email Alicia Vogel (information below) to request physical fingerprint cards to be ink printed in your home state. Two cards will be sent to you with further instructions by mail as soon as possible.

  2. Click the button below to follow instructions for the pre-enrollment online process.

  3. Locations to be fingerprinted are IdentoGo Location that have a “Print and Go” option. Call ahead and ask if they accept fingerprint FD-258 Applicant Cards and make an appointment. Ask if they have cards and let them know if you are bringing your own cards.

  4. Do NOT send your fingerprint cards to Tuscarora. Follow the instructions in the button below or in the packet provided to you with the Fingerprint Cards..

Results for all clearances will either be emailed to you or mailed to the address you provided in your application form. When you receive the results, please submit a copy of each background clearance to Tuscarora as soon as possible! Failure to do so will result in a null and void volunteer application.
